Dear Property Owner:
Important Notice
Field appraisers from our office may be in your neighborhood to measure houses weekdays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. These appraisers wear white shirts with our office logo, black pants and maroon jackets in inclement weather. When the appraiser approaches your house, he or she will first knock on the door or ring your doorbell so as to notify you of their presence. It is not necessary for you to be home for your house to be measured.
After a meeting with the Louisiana Tax Commission concerning properties in St. Tammany Parish with Chinese drywall, I have the authorization to reduce the improvement value by 90%. You must file a Review Form that can be downloaded from this website and provide our office with documentation either from your builder or any reliable source stating your property has Chinese drywall.
If you need assistance or have questions, please call me at 809-8180.
If you have not yet filed for homestead exemption, it is important that you file now. You only have to file once.
It has always been my belief that the property owner has every right to know how an agency that affects him functions. As your Assessor, I prepared this web site as a public service to assist you, the St. Tammany Parish property owner, with the most commonly asked questions and a brief overview of the duties and responsibilities of your Assessor's Office. I ask, in return, if you find errors or inequities in the information provided, that you report them to my office. Should you ever need or want additional information concerning your property taxes or the laws governing them, please give us a call. My staff and I are committed to serving you as fairly and efficiently as possible.
The information available on this website is for the 2001 through 2009 tax years.
Sincerely
